ATLANTIC TROPICS
- Humberto becomes the first hurricane of the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season at 5 AM just a few hours before the latest first hurricane record in 2002 at 8 AM. He is expected to move north then as the NHC suggests, take a sharp turn to weak and weakening to a tropical storm with drier air to the north.
- Gabrielle has made a close pass at Bermuda and is expected to move north toward Nova Scotia in the next 3 days, staying hundreds of miles off the New England coast.
- Steady development for the tropical wave in the Yucatan peninsula where models suggest it impacting Mexico again.
- Ex-Invest 98L is displaying resilience with NHC tagging it with a 10% yellow circle. Something to watch in the future though, with the latest 0z ECMWF strengthening it near the Bahamas in a week's time.
The tropics are in full swing in time for peak of season. |
